Chevening Scholarships

Overview

UK government scholarships for one-year master's degrees at UK universities, for future leaders from Chevening-eligible countries, including Ghana.

Chevening is the UK government's international scholarships programme. Awards are for a one-year taught master's degree at an eligible UK university. Selection focuses on leadership potential and professional experience, and scholars are expected to return home after their studies.

Eligibility

• Citizen of a Chevening-eligible country (Ghana is listed)
• Commit to return to your country of citizenship for at least two years after the award ends
• Hold an undergraduate degree that allows entry to a UK postgraduate programme
• Have at least two years (2,800 hours) of work experience
• Apply to three different eligible UK courses and hold an unconditional offer from one of them by the stated deadline

Meeting these criteria does not guarantee selection.

What the scholarship covers

• University tuition fees
• Monthly living allowance (stipend)
• Return travel to the UK
• Additional allowances as set by Chevening

How to apply

1. Apply online through the official Chevening website during the application window.
2. Apply separately to your chosen UK universities; you must secure an unconditional offer by the Chevening offer deadline (reported as 8 July 2027 for the 2027/28 cycle).
3. Shortlisted applicants are invited to an interview.
